New Addition - Eva

On August 13, 2009, Jay and I became parents to Eva Elizabeth Schwartz. There is nothing you can do or read that will prepare you for that moment when you look down at those big blue eyes and realize that you have just fallen head over heels in love with someone you just met. I now understand when my parents say, "I would die for you," that they truly mean it. We can't imagine our lives without our little "Pober" or as PeacePa (Jay's Dad) calls her - EvaLizzy.

Our two animals have adjusted better than we originally thought they would. Mia, our westie, cares more about Eva's toys than her. Interestingly, our cat ,Kitten-butt, thinks Eva is her baby! She follows us all around the house and starts meowing loudly when Eva is crying. So, our small house is pretty loud most of the time.

Eva is round-the-clock (literally she wakes up at 12:00,2:30,5:30am) work but also constant joy so it balances everything out. She is now 12 weeks old (3 months) if you are counting by the weeks instead of the date. It is absolutely amazing how fast a human being can grow. And I guess that explains my pure exhaustion due to the fact that I am still breastfeeding and is her sole source of nutrition. Breastfeeding for me has been a struggle involving lots of pain and persistance. Some days are good and mostly pain-free while others involve searching for the closest bottle and calling anyone that will listen to me complain about how I just can't do it anymore.

We are currently trying to get some sort of schedule going and waiting for that blissful "sleeping throughout the night."

3 month Eva in a nutshell:

App. 12 pounds and 23 in.

Hates (yes, hate is a strong word) her carseat. Therefore, the stroller and car are avoided if possible.

Stands up! Yes, she stands when you hold her hands.

Eating every 2 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night

Bottom lip quivers at the sight of an unfamiliar face

Likes to have babbling/cooing conversations

grabbing toys and trying to put in mouth

We are soaking up every precious moment and trying to keep up!
