I guess I took a month off from blogging... Sometimes, I feel like the last thing I should be doing is wasting my time getting on the laptop to blog because there's a million other important things I need o do while JJ sleeps and Eva is at school.
However, looking back I'm sure those "really important" things were mundane things like unloading dishwasher, folding laundry, or taking a shower. Haha.
The past month has been a busy one with me turning 30 (gasp!) , JJ's chronic ear inf, and the usual craziness of Jay's business. Here's a good look at what we all do in the morning at 7 am before the craziness begins...
Since, I don't want to blog about a whole month, although we had a fabulous easter with the whole family over at our house, I'll stick to this week.

Monday - Had a great time with friends Andrea and Lauren and their babies/child at my Big Backyard at Botanical Gardens. Between the three of us, we had one 1 month old, two 3 month olds, one 7 month old, one 2 year old, and one 3.5 year old. We looked like the traveling kid circus. That is until....we saw a couple with (no I'm not kidding) a set of triplet toddlers AND a set of triplet newborns!!! We just all stared in disbelief that anybody would want more kids after 1 set of triplets.

Tues - Yay Stomach Bug! No, actually it was awful. Eva recovered fast but there was a mountain of laundry to do. Luckily, she was the only one that got it AND nothing came out the other end (sorry if that's too much info).

Wed - What did I do Wed? Oh yeah, I procrastinated finishing laundry by having the twins come over to visit :) JJ loved touching Harry's toes and looking at pretty Posey.
Thurs - My FAVORITE day of the week! JJ and Eva both go to school! And I get to go to spin class and then whatever else I want to do. Actually, I end up frantically running into a million stores and then cleaning the house so its not that glamorous.

Friday - Today was fun - finally got to meet my friend Laura's baby Henry. And I cannot believe I didn't get a picture. He has the most hair I've ever seen on a baby :) He is a cutie and mom and baby are solely nursing. You go momma Laura! Heading over to my mom's soon to get plants to go in the front where we now have a huge sun spot. Oh yeah, thank goodness the sun has returned! I can't take one more rainy day!

Jay and I worked together as a team to paint the back room a soft green- amazing that Jay actually painted! I love how it turned out!
Having the stomach bug and dealing with JJ's 2nd ear infection has left me a little behind. Anyway, this week is Eva's "spring break" so we had been having fun spending time together and getting out of the house.

Friday - My friend Andrea had her 2nd child - baby Logan! I forgot how little they are in the beginning. So excited to have lots of playdates with big brother Landon and baby Logan.

Monday - We have hot water! We finally hire plumbers to hook up an instant, tankless water heater (not sure if I said that correctly) so it won't take 2 minutes to get hot water in the kitchen. And the temperature is set at a safe limit so nobody will get hurt. This is also really cool because 2 people can take a shower at the same time and nobody will run out of hot water. Its the little things that excite me these days.
My friend Katie had her baby Jackson! I cannot wait to see him - he looks beautiful.
And JJ is sitting by himself! He loves sitting up and playing with Eva like a big boy! I still won't put him on the kitchen floor or any hard surface just in case.
Tuesday - Craft day (or attempted craft day) at Aunt Shannon's. We attempted to make burlap door decorations but the 4 kids age 4 and under kept us from doing much. Who would have thought? I finished the decorations later and they came out pretty cute.
Wednesday - I meet up with my friend Lindy and her daughter Kylie who is Eva's age. We went to storytelling at the library and checked out some good books. Then we grabbed lunch at chick fil a - Eva had a blast!
Thursday - I went to the dentist and I have no CAVITIES!!! This is huge for me because I always have at least one. But I have been using Rx toothpaste, flossing everyday and I guess its working. Its a pain but its definitely worth it. Afterwards, we went to the zoo with the cousins and the twins. I don't know who was more tired at the end - Eva or me - but it was a lot of fun.
2. Wednesdays are Eva's favorite day of the week because its "cousin Olivia day!" Today was a special treat because Robinson Tree Company came to remove the stump with a huge truck and claw-like thingy. I tried to find the name of the claw-like thingy but to no resolve. The girls were somewhat impressed but not nearly as impressed as Jay. I couldn't get the video to upload :( here are some pics
3. Thursday - While both kids were at school, I went to spin class for the first time in over 2 years! It was brutal but I hung in there and made it through the entire class! I am really enjoying the DAC gym, trying to make it 3 x a week is my goal.

4. Friday - I spoke to eva's class on career day. The children were all very attentive and engaged which made me feel good. I talked about the 5 basic food groups and brought some of Eva's fake food and had the class tell me what food group it was in. I have to say, I really enjoyed it and it made me want to be an early school teacher! Maybe I'll get my masters in teaching...
Oh, and we call him Mr. Sweaty Feet because his feet are really sweaty!! Eva calls him stinky feet and they do kind of smell sometimes which makes me really nervous how bad they are going to smell when he's 16! We are sleeping better except sometimes after his 3am bottle he thinks its time to party. Must take after his Dad. Baahahaha.
He has 2 nice chompers (I forget the technical term for which teeth they are). Since breaking through the gum (doesn't that sound pleasant), the drooling has stopped and the late evening fussiness. Hopefully, we get a little break before the top teeth come through.
JJ can sit unassisted for a few seconds with the help of his hands but then topples over. He has really out grown his infant bathtub but not ready for the big tub with Eva. What is a 6 month old to do?
I love my buddy so much! Truly is a joy and I hate when I cannot be with him because that's all I think about (thankfully, I'm usually with him 24/7). Hoping these next 6 months slow down. Ha!
This morning showed me that I am truly grateful that I do not have to get two little ones ready for school 5 days a week. I give big time props to those parents that do it because it is STRESSFUL. I would be getting JJ ready and I look over and see Eva pulling all the covers off my bed I just made. It was like one step forward and one step backward. frustrating. Anyway, we finally made it out of the house and made it to school by 8:30. Its so nice to be able to drop both kids off in the same place. JJ will only be going on Thursdays which is so nice so I can do stuff like go to dentist, vacuum car, or maybe a lunch date kid free!
I was walking down the hallway to get JJ and could hear his giggles :) makes me so happy that he's so content there. Also, on Thursdays only one other baby is in there so he gets lots and lots of attention. I am very pleased. I picked him up early so we waled to the gym where Eva was doing gymnastics. I knew that by letting me see her I was potentially creating a disaster, but to my surprise she waved and kept on going! She would get on the bars and afterwards look at me for approval and I smiled and clapped. She's getting to be such a big girl.

As I hear the thunder boom, it sounds like we lucked out and got some outside play in before the rain rolls in. The cousins came over for a day of crafts, hide-and-go-seek and lots of playing. Its so much fun to see how far they have come with sharing and their language development. The days of "use your words" every 5 minutes are over. Thank goodness! It used to be non-stop "mine!mine!" so we've come a long way.

I bet Eva will talk for JJ for at least the first 5 years and he won't be able to get a word in. I think my sister translated my mumbled words for at least....wait....she still does!

The one thing I know for sure is that as difficult and tiring these early years have proven to be, it is flying by way too fast. I guess that's why I seem to take a picture every 2 hours. Jay is always telling me to put the camera down, but I know that one day he'll thank me when he looks back at all the pictures and says, "I can't believe they used to be so little."

We had an awesome weekend! My friend Anne came over to watch the kiddos - thanks Anne! - so I could go see my very pregnant friend ,Katie, at her baby shower. She looked fabulous as she always does. It was a rushed day as I had to leave early to get to Alaina's reveal party which I will blog about later because she wanted to wait until today to tell her co-workers.

On Sunday we had a family outing to Shelby Farms (our first time actually to take Eva). It was a little windy but walking through on the trails it was fine. Eva pretended she was little red riding hood and we were running from the big bad wolf. It was a gorgeous day - not a cloud in the sky. JJ slept the entire time in the ergo on me (love the ergo).
The week started off with another trip to the per office for JJ. His ears were fine but he had a virus and his throat was bright red - which was causing all his fussiness. His doctor explained to me that he he is basically living inside Eva's classroom. With that in mind, JJ will start going to PDO next Thursday at St. Lukes. I love the fact that the PDO is very small so he'll get plenty of attention. We re-enrolled Eva for 3 days a week - st. lukes has really grown on me and I really like it. And more importantly, Eva loves going. They have a soccer team for 4+ but with Eva already in dance and gymnastics, I don't want to overwhelm her with activities.
Eva enjoys drawing and she is getting really good at dawning faces and is practicing letters on her own.
JJ is getting very close to sitting without help and continues to try new foods. He is also very alert and likes to "play" at 4:00 am after his bottle. How nice of him.
To make this I "simply" attached knit fabric (if you have ever sewed on knit, you know there's nothing simple about it) to a tank top with elastic thread. I was nervous about this, but elastic thread really is a MUST! I used this tutorial as a guideline:

asmallsnippet.com/2011/09/wanna-make-dress.html

1.) I picked this fun green and navy blue stripe knit fabric. Measure 1.5 times your waist to know how much fabric you'll need. I made sure the stripes were horizontal so I didn't end up looking like beetlejuice.

2.) measure using a yardstick (mine came out to about 45 inches) and cut away

3.) Sew with zigzag the two right sides together to make your "tube". Place elastic thread in bobbin and sew the top of your "skirt"

4.) Cut a tank top where you want to attach the skirt.

5.) Place tank top with straps in first and sew using the elastic thread. I did this wrong because my skirt is came out inside out. oops! luckily both sides are the same (probably why I got confused) so despite seeing the seam its ok. I'll probably redo it. Hem it and waaalaaa! You got yourself a maxi dress!

And with the left over fabric you can make a turban. ok no, not really.

1.) I went to work last Saturday for the first time in 6 months. I was surprised how everything came back to me and I cannot believe it but I actually enjoyed it! I never would have thought. I'm still only able to work about one Sat. every month because of Jay's busy schedule.

2. JJ had his first ear infection which is most likely the result of constantly being congested. Thanks RSV. I have a mother's intuitive feeling that he will have asthma. Doctors at leBonheur hospital explained that many babies who have RSV will develop asthma - they aren't sure if these kids are at a genetic predisposition anyway to get asthma or if the RSV actually causes it. I noticed that he has a kind of wheeze to his breathing sometimes - so, lucky us. But so happy to have JJ feeling better an sleeping again! :) And he loves to eat! Loves sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots!

3.) In preparation for Spring clothes, I cleaned out all of the kids closets and drawers and consigned them. What a chore but its so nice to have lots of room again. I went to Kidstown and found lots of goodies. What is great about having an embroidery machine is that I can make an appliqué or patch to go over these pre-owned monogrammed clothes.

4.) I think I possess a magical pregnancy vibe because lately it seems everyone I am friends with is or just was pregnant. I just found out another friend of mine is expecting and I am so happy for her.

5.) Zulily - Jay told me if I buy one more thing from Zulily he's sending it back. I hope he doesn't notice that swimsuit. oops!

Eva's "purple handkerchief dress" from Zulily

6.) Can't wait to post the fun crafts I'm making for my friend Alaina's reveal party! Yes, she is actually waiting to find out the gender with her closet family and friends.

7.)As I watch the huge storm in the Northeast, I think to myself how much I love the South! Cannot wait for more warm days outside!

I was thrilled when 3 of my buddies (Andrea, Katie, Laura) told me they were expecting in March (partly because my bday is in March). I did my usual 50/50 guess and to my surprise all are going to be boys. Did you know that in 2010 the global sex ratio was 986 females per 1,000 males and trended to reduce to 984 in 2011 (expedia). Who knew? I have to say, I'm very much in love with my little boy so I'm very happy for them.
My new obsession is monogramming/sewing fabric on burp cloths which makes great baby gifts. They are super fast to make and fun because it calls for lots of fun fabrics. Now, to some people I'm sure the idea of decorating a burp cloth seems impractical. That's probably because it is. Its a decorated piece of cloth that gets puked on. But in the days of sleepless motherhood when you fell disorganized and crazy, you can pull out that beautiful burp cloth and it somehow makes the puke seem better and you seem somehow more organized as a mother. Oh, and its freakin cute because your baby's name is on it!
We love going to Nana's house because there's lots of fun paths to walk on and trees to climb outside.
Unfortunately, most of my great outside childhood is gone now. The "bamboo forest" in which I would hold Greenpeace Jr. meetings with old friends like Anna Lockwood, Vivian Jaynes, Anne Bailey, etc. (sorry if I only referred to you as etc) is now gone. The treehouse that we would spend nights out under the stars that my Dad built is now gone as well when the huge hackberry fell over in Hurricane Elvis. But the old magnolia tree in the front still stands - missing most of its branches - but its still there. And as Eva marched in the leaves and climbed the low branches, I remembered the fun times as a kid when Laura Bandura and I would sit high (and I mean really high) up in the tree and make animal sounds as people walked by and laughing hysterically to watch their reaction.

All my friends know that my favorite color is white. It looks clean and goes with everything. However, I am trying to branch out and add more color to my house. I decided to sew Euro pillow shams (26x26 pillows) with a 3'' flange. I found a great tutorial at :
sew-passionate.blogspot.com/.../easy-euro-shams-with-3-flange.html

BEFORE

I also made a new sham for the long center pillow (simply measured the pillow to make the pocket sham) and monogrammed it. I loved the idea of navy blue (my accent wall) and yellow so I went on fabric.com and ordered 3 yards of a great yellow cotton print. I used an old white sheet for the backs of the Euro Shams and sewed 2 sheets of 1/4 inch batting to the front of the pillow to keep the flange from falling.
Materials used:
3 yards of front fabric cut to 33''x33''
sheet for back : each pillow needs two 21.5''x33'' (they overlap in back)
batting 33''

These were so easy because there's no zipper involved! Just make a simple pocket in the back! The end result came out great shown here:

Nana gave her a camera for Christmas and I think it helped with the fear factor as she went around taking pictures of us and telling us to smile. Eva loves to talk about words that rhyme and opposites. We even have started some addition and subtraction. Her favorite books are still Dr. Suess books and 26 Princesses. As always, Eva is a big help with JJ and has never shown any jealousy (something that surprised us all). She doesn't like it when he gets fussy so she plays peek-a-boo and sings songs to him
JJ is a few days shy of 5 months and doing lots of new things. He eats squash and green bean baby food, in which most ends up on him. He loves to giggle as you can see in the video. JJ is touching his toes as much as possible and shoving his fingers in his mouth with lots of drooling. Sometimes I think that is what it must be like to have a English Bulldog.

What to do when its wet out and you are waiting on insurance to contact you so you can cut up a massive tree? Go outside and get wet of course! Eva had a blast playing in the puddles of our driveway with horrible drainage - at least somebody thinks our driveway is fun.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-30285567541780153452013-01-11T11:03:00.001-08:002013-01-11T11:14:53.094-08:00HOLY MOLY! That was a HUGE OAK TREE! We are feeling pretty fortunate that our huge oak tree that fell yesterday evening did not hit our house or cause any harm to anyone. I left the house to go pick up Eva from school and decided to go stop by my mom's instead of returning home. An angel must have been looking out after us because the tree fell right where I usually park my car! Yikes!
Ok, so I went back to work in 2010 and that's when the blog stopped. But now that I'm home again, I have ample time to blog. Well, maybe not ample time. But lots has changed since 2010. In brief, we moved to a bigger house in summer of 2011 in what some people would call East Memphis while others consider it more "University Area". Depends on where you originate I guess. Its a great location on Walnut Grove(new windows have helped with noise) outside High Point Terrace. We got an awesome deal on it at the expense of some work that needed to be done in which we redid floors, windows, 1 bathroom, paint, new appliances (house came with none), granite in kitchen, and landscaping. Eva is now 3 and goes to preschool! Wow, time flies. She goes to St. Lukes preschool 3 x a week. Its a nice,small sized methodist preschool where she takes chinese (yes, chinese),music class as well as dance and gymnastics and chapel. Its conveniently located by our new house in East Memphis so that's awesome when I'm running behind and have only 10 minutes before she needs to get picked up at 3:00. And my wonderful husband takes her to school everyday! So I can remain in pajamas basically until 3:00 everyday. She is definitely 3 and can be a sassy pants but she's a sweetie who loves anything purple or princess.

JJ is quite long and he wearing 6 month clothes for the length. He found his toes and loves them! He is gnawing on everything, especially my face so there's some teeth coming soon. He especially loves his sister, he just smiles and laughs at her all day long. Its really sweet - I cannot wait until they are old enough to play together. In June, we had a great family trip (me,Jay,Eva,Nana) to Rhode Island! It was Jay's first time to visit the Northeast and for Eva as well. We stayed in my Aunt's friend's house which was only a few minutes from the beach. However with it being June in RI - the water was freezing! Eva was terrified of the waves but eventually we got her into the water but only a few minutes b/c she started to shiver.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXdOX2Blfzz8fipUyDmm_ommm9olJNeAqgacqHX8HvH2Vo2oasaLRU6NvSL8Q9BhAYZ3x5p22gT1BVqswcPUr3pWq3Lowr7JdZmgWZkXQKNboXSCO5GbeBnI8d-piTJ4DpoOgPD4OzZqA/s400/dad+and+eva.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5493464913082580450" />

Jay found his new favorite food - steamas (steamers which are basically A clam). We went and looked at out old house in Kingston where I spent three months every summer for about 15 years. We went to Narragansatt and saw the pier and walked along the wall (ate a Del's). My cousin Susan took Jay and I out one night to Newport, RI. My other cousin ,Lauren, flew in from Prince Edward Island. We even had a mini family reunion involving the lobster people vs the steak people - its a long standing tradition.

As soon as we got home to Memphis, Jay and I flew out the very next day to MN where we went to our friend's - Bo and Kate's - Wedding. It was a beautiful outside wedding in Stillwater,MN. Kate wore an elegant ivory dress with a little bird's cage veil. The colors were yellow and gray. It was very nicely done - and so much fun. Although, everyone had to move inside b/c tornado sirens went off! There's a funny moment to remember.

We also got to see Sarah, Liz, and my nephew Milo! He was as cute as ever and getting so big. We all went out for a night of Ethiopian food at the Blue Nile and it was yummy. Jay and I felt like true city people taking the light rail from Sarah's condo to the airport. Imagine that - public transportation that makes sense! ha! Below is a pic of an old Sears building that Minneapolis converted into condos, restaurants, etc. A.K.A. useful things.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyWjGR4xPWmGNkHam0qyYavdwU3ySC_oaNM8aIJ5e5_v4cB25Glo7RDF8csnCOKILQnyLXj5Jgapn-sL0WJokm6G9b39-tLmns984icDGMWn0asZbaw9JkIZc9boQVkSYKRFAQt5YHSFI/s400/sears.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5493466259974598722" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv4_WrCEOmhGXJ2ZRTlspDw89PboCNFl-iK_QhZ0cyVAFEIugVuSV9imbB0PxmuGv1pQjVN0wsPf1_3bhiZdDISUKG50DY1G4upwuvUeZ5-TtpS4h-hzeXBzRsfiPAHSIn1epaXi8xW2o/s400/jaymilo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5493465973055663634" />
(Jay and nephew Milo)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-22257119343122534672010-05-29T09:36:00.000-07:002010-05-29T09:48:29.959-07:00Iowa TripEva took her first flight up to Cedar Rapids,IA to see her new baby cousin - Miles. With much anticipation(Jay did not go with us)Eva did really well sitting on my lap for the first flight to Minneapolis and then changed flights to Iowa. I was amazed at the generosity of strangers who volunteered to help me with my bags and stroller.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiFpGSST00HWPjFwxHOq_mcsgVhfTMzeMWPUXxPje84titvyLKW2WkVZ5Vm-hfSpDUoltsFyRo7xkjNFmXh4QImFARNZ7x5-z2wIkaK5yF69_PVKHNaT5bnSLU0jSUcvqei8gYTI9_iMY/s400/iowatrip2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476734167075888738" />
We had lots of fun watching Eva "play" with Miles. She even gave him a kiss on the head which she doesn't do for us. Miles is definitely going to be a BIG kid since he is 7 weeks and already weighs 14 lbs (Eva weighs 19) and is wearing 6 month clothes b/c he is so long! Milo is such a cute baby - he loves to smile which is usually followed by a very serious face.
Grandma Alice and Grandpa were wonderful grandparents - cooking, cleaning up, and holding babies the entire time. We are reading "Bringing Up Girls" by James Dobson who is better known for his book, "Bringing Up Boys" which has been out for awhile. We just started the first two chapeters but already we seem to have the same concerns for our daughters.

We discussed the pressure from peers and the media to be thin and pretty - starting from an even younger age than us! It seems as though every other commercial is about staying pretty and having a perfect body image. We all agreed that how we carry ourselves and how we treat our own bodies will have a profound effect on our girls.

It is scary to think that we are raising our girls in a time where you can buy a thong for a child. Yuck. But I feel as though by giving our girls a healthy atmosphere and setting definite limits are important in raising strong/healthy children. We have our work cut out for us!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-23286662840326249172010-05-11T06:43:00.001-07:002010-05-11T07:33:51.016-07:001st Mother's DayThis weekend was my first mother's day! We celebrated Mother's day by having my mom, Jay's mom, and Shannon (and of course Trent,Tyler,Maddux,and Olivia) over for a little BBQ get together. Wow, our family is getting big! It was actually a nice and kind of cool day so we sat out on our patio with our new umbrella and newly landscaped backyard. :)

We ate central BBQ, potato salad, and three bean salad topped off with pies from Fresh Market - Delicious! Jay arrived from New Orleans with gifts and flowers in hand - what a wonderful husband.

Mother's Day really had a new meaning to me this year. Until you are put in these shoes - you have no idea how much time and love goes into this full time job. I appreciate everything that my mother has done for me - she really is a wonderful and loving mom. I gave my mom a necklace with a pea pod in which there was a white and pink pea (white for milo and pink for Eva). I gave Jay's mom a pea pod with 2 pinks and 1 white. I love etsy.com

Maddux loves opening and closing doors so he was fascinated with the screen door. I love being around my nephew because I know what Eva will be into in a few months! Cousin Olivia is cute as can be - she is smiling now!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHwwTY_krRkE3BM0qGiExPCO1Z8cVwasC7c_Lu1PzZQoAAbxZPv_nCuUSZ6N80Ccc-talD-Ag0Lm7ir9dP6muZt1a6a68htfbi0P7SnDyE7ylZH3PN_HXRtvfdPV09Sb-Ml6PdxQSle94/s400/olivia.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470015836715533218" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-11472482875423431132010-05-06T04:56:00.000-07:002010-05-06T05:31:12.529-07:00New Trips and Teeth<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9OBN4QnMWjhMXTREgzE0h3b80BXeeCWyEG52uMTK6DgwgKQT8o-rsambpViqBhWHO6B5rxdwiG-NvfCCr5nULZq_8VyOsg9L4Idh7HTUeUDlbArWPywmSzPTIB7TIXBOVoARDfQeSDWU/s400/rockinghorse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5468130127982846610" />

Due to Eva's recent virus, we have postponed our trip to MN too see my sister's baby Miles. We were looking forward to the trip but its not worth the risk if anything happened to 5 week old Miles and a baby with diarrhea on a plane is unimaginable to me.

Soo, we will be flying on May 20th to Cedar Rapids,IA to see Miles as well as my entire Iowa family. My "cousin" Alex is graduating from H.S. and her family will be throwing her an "open house". Apparently, this is where anyone is invited to stop by to say hi and congrats (Iowa is safer than Memphis it appears).

Jay is leaving to New Orleans tomorrow morning for his friend's bachelor trip. He should make it back in time for our Mother's Day cookout at our house. :)

Also, we can see one top tooth coming! It is a speck of white it is breaking through the gums. Ouch! We just learned about the recall of Tylenol and Motrin - which is ok for us b/c generic motrin/tylenol are not included in this. Trying to save a buck really paid off this time!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-48610581676760064612010-05-05T06:01:00.000-07:002010-05-05T07:25:29.542-07:00Really Good Things do Happen...We finally got our front porch!!! I have been waiting 2 years to get it. For everyone that may not know, we turned a midtown duplex into a house and we never finished the outside of the house. I guess marriage and baby and finances got in the way of that one. But it is done and it is so beautiful! I love sitting in the rocking chairs with my family just enjoying the few nice days we have left in Memphis. We have already picked out the house paint color which is going to be a nice neutral creme color. I'm thinking the shutters will be a natural green color... We are also going to tear up the old cement walk way in the front and create a new path on the side.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkwlSW2nqylFz9T-8hl64oa2rVyMIOsbAV9zFSUWip4zpLAO8mMS6XhhVQnER0xoqgfQRVJ1ldBFFqbXSOVABC2UhrXYp1K8M1K_YSMo87EPhmW7v-33c6vfx98FkdgdxOYRZe4HUCcjE/s400/frontporch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467787639715752418" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidesNEufXLlyPx4xZfVCcBqgMN_rqNS5UMb8mkcBszgi5V3PXHbrR21jAq3ObnPBvjGSE8Mf4fwm_e1RzKt1DrIjUY9mKdpgNxJQbVD5A0VCjpBlkB7PVjGuwoGalMljbPw3vx74rLRXY/s400/frontporch2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467787953234350994" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn3FpkDPMCVKW_6FQQo-3ICcSe95eGNvdOFyhi5fg4S79U63JnEJdkg8rv4xmAwvoYpHGezPJWRcj-ZtiEFToMLGNeO_GsJYkSqGA8UEQa6O4CBBk0Szc1KVkjzlTv1_cpoMSI2poEGiM/s400/unfinishedporch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467788274798806994" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-34934989786407373982010-04-30T16:34:00.000-07:002010-04-30T16:57:01.697-07:00Sick EvaSo, I was just braggimg the other day about how Eva is 8 months and hasn't gotten sick. I guess I should of knocked on wood because today Eva had diarrhea and was spitting up more than usual. I feel especially bad because Grandma Alice was watching Eva today while this happened!

She wouldn't eat lunch which is a rarity and she screamed when it was time for her nap. My gut instinct tells me that she is teething as diarrhea and fever are common during teething. But we'll call the doctor tomorrow if her BM have not improved. I just hope that this passes soon so I can have my happy baby back!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018861758752828023.post-8181902403494616432010-04-28T06:49:00.000-07:002010-04-28T08:43:30.966-07:008 monthsMiss Eva is half way through eight months so here's what is going on in Eva's world. She weighs app. 18 # and is 28 inches long. She has filled out in her face and I believe she looks like a good mixture of me and Jay. She still only has two bottom teeth and no top teeth that we can see yet.

The biggest change is that she is moving....quickly! She has mastered crawling and loves to climb. Whenever the dishwasher is open, she moves like lightning to get inside. One of her favorite things to do is also to stare at our front loader washer and dryer. She appears to be attempting "cruising" (holding onto furniture and walking) and she likes to stand and lean against something so she can use both of her hands. It won't be long until she takes that first step!

Eva so far loves to go in her stroller and likes the wind blowing in her hair. :) We need to get her a swing!

Her most prized possession is her lovey - the monkey. Which btw, I cannot find another GUND monkey (10 inches) so if anyone can find one, please tell me!

Eva goes to Parent's Day Out (PDO) at Christ Methodist on Mondays from 9-3. She is very social and likes to touch and play with the other babies. She goes from baby to baby, saying her hellos. Its really sweet. The caretakers are really nice and I'm so happy to have her in a good,secure place.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 293px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM8sE9E_DPXcFe_0KV1a62VZ6Og1Sqmqa78RKRGGHobwmMJaI7Rb_CsTRSreoyvES420bWidCeBCNMAfAjr_N3fJIcT3cDjXt1oT7yNiCCBmWsCQ1WzRP15oNT96baIVc6u78b8n5w8xs/s400/red+dress.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5465194540981902050" />

New finger foods:
mango
brussel sprouts (not a winner)
pieces of turkey/ham
gouda cheese (its a family tradiiton)
squash
citrus (cutie)
pear
broccoli (not a winner)
egg yolk (also, not her fav)

She is very good at picking up food using her thumb and forefinger in the pincer grip. You can see her concentrating on the piece of food and then total focuse goes into getting it just right and then the difficult part - bringing it up to the mouth. I'd say 7 outta 10 times she makes it. And instead of finding the piece that fell, she moves on to a new piece of food. Yes, that's why bibs have that pocket on the bottom.

8 month old Eva will be going on her first plane ride soon!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04888851009272624627noreply@blogger.com0
